Twigonometry

Eucalyptus and paint

930 mm x 750 mm x 900 mm

Twigonometry is a study of geometry in the natural world. Composed as a continuous proportional line, the structure references a ’branch’ of mathematics known as trigonometry, often used in the study of acoustics, physics, biology and surveying. The surface of the piece, treated with ‘chalky’ white paint, evokes the traditional black board investigation of mathematical equations. The sculpture also alludes to current 3D printing processes that utilise a range of extruded materials to create complex forms.
