Burmese python

800 mm x 800 mm x 410 mm

I aim to capture the beauty of nature and my research leads me to explore the nexus of high technology, art and science. I produce scientifically accurate digital replicas of museum exhibits. For this exhibition I am displaying a Burmese python (Python molurus bivattatus) positioned in a spiral pose. The original snake specimen, which I CT scanned, weighed sixty kilograms and was found living in inner-city Melbourne by authorities. The X-ray 3D positional data was then used to accurately model and 3D print the exhibit.
