Black cockatoo

Acrylic on linen

610 mm x 1220 mm

My work is concerned with movement and the play of light on natural forms and the landscape. Living close to the Mount Coot-tha National Park and Botanical Gardens in Brisbane has provided fresh inspiration from the landscape, and particularly the trees with their distinctive features, for a number of years.

This distinctive iconic Australian bird is unfortunately losing habitat so to see them so close to my home is a wonderful thrill. Perhaps by bringing attention to it’s beauty and character, the yellow tailed black cockatoo will always have a place.
