Aground presents a poignant image of survival, life and death. The simplicity of the camera shot holds the power of the image, allowing the slow dance to unfold and expose the vulnerable marine life attached to its unstable ‘craft’. The work invites questions about displacement, vulnerability and survival.
My art practice explores a creative ‘collaboration’ with aspects of the physical environment, a process in which I allow the natural world to influence the outcome of the work. This process incorporates ‘mutuality’ between artist and the physical environment, a relationship that acknowledges the influence off the natural world on our lives.
