Oil on linen
The reclaiming is made from three photographs taken over many years, unrelated in time and place. A completely overgrown garden from my neighbourhood, a group of students from when I undertook a residency at the Art Gallery of South Australia, and the gaping opening to the Bat Cave, Naracoorte, a place I had adventures during my childhood.
I am curious as to how ecological information and perspectives, both newly discovered or passed on, are shaping our relationship with nature today. As a new generation approaches a vital negotiation with a fragile yet formidable environment, how will they deal with a paradoxically self-determined yet unknown future?
