Small wonders

Pastel chalk on paper (made from Tasmanian Richea pandanifolia leaves)

The Tasmanian rainforest ecosystem is a complex array of hidden mysteries. Everything is connected; growth and decay are essential facets of the unfolding continuum. There’s a microcosm of unseen inhabitants, a myriad of life forms large and small, insects and worms hidden under bark, slime moulds in the undergrowth, birds and animals are all part of the cycle. Ferns, fungi and moss cover the trees; everything is a unified whole.

If you go down to those woods today you are in for a big surprise. Take a magnifying glass next time you go.
