Kunmanara Underwood paints an oral history, as relevant today as it was when Kunmanara was a boy and maybe 60 000 years before then. He depicts the creation of the physical world, of the first beings who took their form from the animal kingdom but were mere men all the same, susceptible to the emotional spectrum and inadequacies that western poets and philosophers have written of. These Creation beings shaped the landscape, leaving indelible monolithic reminders everywhere of their presence and power that is inextricably tied to the moral fabric of the natural world and the people that inhabit it.
