Fruit and olive

Blown glass, murrini, battuto, olive wood and Huon stems, oak base

A composition of two fruits in glass and wood. One, an immigrant to our State that has become a familiar and important part of our culture. Its stem is carved from olive wood that has been harvested from a tree in the Adelaide Hills.

The other, new to us, alien, and just as beautiful, but with unknown potential.

The glass is formed and coloured with the Venetian technique called murrini. The stem is carved in Huon, an exotic species from Tasmania.
