Fatal shore dustbin

Mixed media

I chose to use one of the definitive books about Australia, Fatal shore by Robert Hughes, to express just how fatal those shores could be with global warming. From the pages, I cut iconic eucalyptus leaves that were then coloured with the watercolours I made from the soils of Australia’s land. After burning the edges to represent the increasing heat and wildfires, what remains could easily be swept away.
