Stoneware paperclay, slip, underglaze, glaze, wax

Looking to portray the complex relationship we humans have with nature, as many have before me, I picked up an apple – a commonplace thing and yet a significant symbol, ancient and modern, in many cultures around the world.

It was ripe for contemporary comment. The unnatural size and colour of this apple allude to the increasing power scientists now have to manipulate the natural world. What a responsibility!

The apple is also largely eaten, a reference to our inexorable consumption of natural resources. So the bad pun (groan) title is both an exclamation and a protest. Help!
