Life of the Sand Bubbler Crab

Works on Paper

Pencil on paper, 910cm x 70cm

At low tide the Sand Bubbler Crab emerges from its burrow in the sand to look for food. It extracts nutrients from the sand, rolls the residue into pellets that the crab then pushes up its burrow and deposits along the beach in lace-like patterns, only to be washed away by the next high tide.
