Yellow-winged Locust Gastrimargus musicus

Youth Art Prize

Finalist

Watercolour on paper, 70cm x 90cm

The Yellow-winged Locust is easily recognised by its beautifully bright, yellow and black-banded wings that are only revealed in flight. Generally perceived as a pest, the left side of the insect is depicted damaged, questioning the use of pesticides and other environmental ‘impacts’ to provide the consumer with perfect food.
