Out of Stone

White acrylic on slate, 35cm x 175cm
Out Of Stone
Age old plains.
Weathered flat.
Then ripped, scarred,
Plowed to submission.
Frail, fragile,
Spindly string of scrub.
Scratching for life
With tenuous hold on miserable earth.
And I painted on slate,
Rubbed, scratched to submission,
Until wraithlike form appeared
Out of stone.
Vale Mallee.
