Ngapa (Water Dreaming)

Acrylic on linen, 118x90cm

This painting shows Kay's depiction ofNgapa or water dreaming, an important story for the Warlpiri people. The painting shows a soakage site in Kay's homelands near Willowra. This site provides the group’s water supply; the women go to the soakage site and dig for water. The depth they will need to dig is dependant upon recent rainfall.
